Carpenter Brut “The Misfits / The Rebels”, directed by Jean Delaunay, is an animated music video with a retro visual style. It follows Lita and Bret racing through Midwichpolis as rebellion erupts across the City of Light.
Jean Delaunay builds the video around the language of 1980s and 1990s Japanese anime, not simply through its character design but through the techniques that gave those productions their rhythm.
The city never feels like a backdrop so much as something the characters are trying to break through, turning the pursuit into a collision between speed, confinement and rebellion.
